In the morning, I will stretch
like a cat in the sun
Crawl out of bed
While humming some song.
I’ll take a long hot shower
or maybe just a bubble bath
Make some hot coffee
and a hard-boiled egg.
I’ll throw on some old clothes
and a comfy pair of shoes
Break open the door
before the break of dawn
and walk to the mountain-top.
And when I reach it
I won’t discuss the day ahead
within my head.
I’ll just sit
or maybe stand in respect
for the sun that never failed.
And maybe its rays
will penetrate my soul
Give it strength to go on
Even if I fail.
I’ll watch for a while
check the peace inside
and carry the sun down with me
up through to good night.
